God Our Father

When you hear the word “Father” what comes to mind? Well, for many a father is known as a provider, protector, a source of love, and the go-to person when a need arises. Unfortunately, some people have never had the opportunity to have an earthly father or to enjoy the benefits that come with having a caring, loving, and present father.

The Bible reminds us that God is our Father. He has promised to love, care, protect, fight our battles, hear us when we call, be our present help in time of need, and shield us from danger. This is so reassuring because it gives us the courage to face despite the many uncertainties that we encounter.

Take a look at some of the verses that remind us of God being our Father

One God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:6(ESV)

Father of the fatherless and protector of widows is God in his holy habitation. Psalm 68:5(RSV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. 1 John 3:1(ESV)

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. John 14:6(ESV)

Yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.1 Corinthians 8:6(ESV)

Prayer

Dear Lord, we thank you because you are our Father. We thank you for the privilege of being called your children. Help us to remember that you will never leave us nor forsake us and that you are our shield and lifter of our heads. Help us to trust in you always even as you lead us according to your will. Amen

Happy Fathers Day!
