The Call to intercede for our Children

Intercession is praying for other people and taking spiritual authority over Satan on their behalf. It includes both prayer and spiritual warfare.

1Timothy 2:1-4 ESV says, First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, (2) for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. (3) This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, (4) who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

From the scripture above you can see that you have been called to intercede for all people. By the words ‘all people’, it includes children. You are standing on your children’s behalf before God resisting Satan’s work in their lives. You are taking the place of your children in prayer and spiritual warfare. Prayer enables us to know what God’s will is for our Children. At the same time, it helps us know what is not God’s will for them. When we discern through prayer that something is not of God in our children’s life, that is where spiritual warfare comes in. Something important to note is that spiritual warefare should be informed by prayer as opposed to just having a spiritual battle blindly. God knows better than we do. He knows what needs to be done and achieved. When we get to His program or blueprint, then we can be assured of Victory in the battle.

Jesus gave you His authority against Satan. Luke 10:19 ESV says, Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. You have the authority now. You have the same authority, ability, responsibility and position that the Church had immediately after the mighty work of Jesus Christ was completed and He ascended to be with the Father. Jesus expects you to use the power in His name to do His work here on earth, and that includes covering your children in His name. As you use Jesus’ name against every attack in your children’s lives, the enemy must flee and the work will be accomplished.

If you see any area in your children that signifies death, destruction and theft, Jesus has given you the power to command these manifestations to leave in His mighty name. Jesus said in Joh 14:14 ESV  If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it. You can see the assurance that has been placed by Christ Himself when we use His name. Stand in this truth and you will see God’s glory in your children’s life.

Blessings
