Trust God for Your Safety

In a world experiencing trouble, war, diseases, and dangers of every kind, it’s comforting to know that God has promised to protect His people.

We may not all be on the front lines of a natural war or even disease like our health practitioners are in the COVID 19 pandemic, but we all face an enemy who intends to steal, kill and destroy.

However, we must always remember that when we make God our refuge, we have security in Him. Just like a new-born baby wrapped in a warm, secure blanket, God wraps us in His love, power, and protection.

As human beings, we buy insurance covers for our property, health, vehicles, education, and many more. We also have measures to protect ourselves from danger e.g. putting security lights, gates, hiring security personnel, CCTV cameras and alarms. As much as it is necessary to take precautions, we need to remember that nothing can outdo the security God offers in His word.

Psalm 61:3 records that for you have been my refuge, a strong tower against the enemy. God, Himself is our shelter and refuge. The dictionary defines shelter as a shielded or safe condition; protection.

Our security will be determined by how much time and attention we give to God and His Word. It is one thing to read the word and another one to internalize and apply it. If you give God a little bit of your time, you will have little faith and get little results. If you invest more time in reading and meditating on His word, your faith will grow and you will practically see God’s miracles in your lives.

Here are 6 verses to remind you of God’s safety;

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1 (ESV)

You are a hiding place for me you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Psalm 32:7 (ESV)

In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8 (ESV)

The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him. Nahum 1:7 (ESV)

No evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. On their hands, they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone. Psalm 91:10-12 (ESV)

But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (ESV)
