Finding peace in times of uncertainty

I can lie down and sleep soundly because you, LORD, will keep me safe. Psalm 4:8 (CEV)

We live in a world that is full of challenges. As human beings, we are not in control of what will happen to the next second. It is a privilege to wake up to a new day and see it end. Why? Because it is only God who knows what will happen to us every minute of our lives. We face many trials and tribulations, but the word of God encourages us to put our trust in God as only He can keep us safe.

When facing challenges, people increasingly become concerned about the spreading of conflict around the world. There is fear, that the situation becomes uncontrollable. For instance, currently, the world is faced with the coronavirus pandemic which has killed thousands of people worldwide, leading to anxiety and a sense of lack of peace despite all the effort that governments have put in place to curb the menace.

What is peace? The peace of God can be described as a tranquil state of appreciation and faith when we submit to and trust the commandments of God and Christ. It requires a mixture of humility and courage to experience God’s peace, seeking beyond the mere abilities of our understanding.

Thankfully, the Bible provides us specific guidance about how to be closer to Him.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15 (ESV)

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do, I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. John 14:27

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. Romans 15:13 (ESV)

For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12 (ESV)

We pray that the peace of God will fill our hearts as we trust in Him to help us walk in faith as we fully rely on Him in all situations.
