Prayer for Children
Praying specific, promise-filled and hope-inspired prayers is essential over our children. This will play a big role in helping our children to be alert, aware, and discerning of God’s voice, as well as to stand against the attacks of the enemy in their lives. We should never underestimate the importance of speaking blessings and truth over their lives. Prayer is powerful and God’s word is true.
Psalm 127:3 (ESV) states that “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward”. In Psalm 113:9 (ESV) God says that He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the LORD!
A prayer for those trusting God for a child
Father, we pray for those that desire to have a baby, and since Your Word says that children are a gift from You, by faith we agree with our reader for a normal, healthy baby. Your Word says You will bless the fruit of her womb, and she will lose none of her young by miscarriage or be barren and that You will keep her safe through childbearing. By faith, according to Your Word, let there be a beautiful pregnancy. In Jesus mighty name, Amen!
Prayer for the unborn babies and the newborns
Babies are such a precious gift. Thank God that He is the author and giver of life! Psalm 139:16 (ESV) Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there were none of them. Again Psalm 139:13 (ESV) says “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb”.
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of new life. For the unborn baby, we thank you for wholeness and normal growth in the mother’s womb. Every complication that may have arisen in this child’s development, in the mighty name of Jesus be gone now! We speak life where death was pronounced, strength where weakness has been experienced, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ! Thank you Father for safe delivery in due time. Heavenly Father, For the newborns, we thank you for their safe arrival into our world. They are blessed as they grow. Keep them safe and strong in the weeks, months and years ahead. They experience peace and are kept from harm. Give the parents grace and strength through the highs and lows of caring for a newborn baby. In Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!
Prayer for children’s friendships. That they will find godly relationships
Proverbs 13:20 (ESV) Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. This verse about friendship reminds us that relationships can have a positive or a negative impact. Let’s take a moment to pray for children to know the support of great friends around them.
Father God, We thank you that you have made our children to be in relationship with others. We pray for these children to know great care and support from those around them. May they be encouraged by friends at school, college or university. May they show your love and care to their friendship circle. 2Timothy 1:7 says you have given us the spirit of power, love and more than a sound mind. By your Spirit help them to exercise self-control by your power. Thank you that all good gifts come from you. We trust you for the future of these children. Make steady their steps towards your calling upon their lives. Your grace and patience be upon those that watch and take care of them in Jesus mighty name. Amen!
