Rest! He knows it all!

You may be conversant with the statement ‘you cannot be everywhere at the same time’. I believe that this statement was born out of man’s desire, not just to be everywhere but to be in several places almost at the same time.

When we think of our loved ones or engagements that we have, the thought of being physically present with them always crosses our minds. There is something about being present either in an area or amongst people that you have a relationship with. The idea of their safety, provision or help in an area of need tends to be sure when you are with them. Still, not being present with matters or your loved ones a times makes us feel that we cannot extend help physically, especially when it is called for. The truth is, yes we cannot be everywhere at the same time but we have a God who is! Looking at the following Scriptures, you can see profound statements about God’s nature.

Jeremiah 23:23-24 ESV “Am I a God at hand, declares the Lord, and not a God far away? Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord..

Psalm 139:7-12 ESV ”Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? 8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! 9 If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day,  for darkness is as light with you.”

These scriptures clearly state that God is everywhere at the same time. God’s presence extends throughout the universe. He sees everything that happens and nothing escapes His sight.

The fact that God’s presence is everywhere means that His ability to act is also available anywhere at any time. This not only means that we have access to God’s power, but also to information regarding what may be happening in any area of interest and this of course applies if He wills to reveal. In other cases He gives us peace that all is well even though the details may not be given.

When we look at this truth, it gives us confidence that even though we are not everywhere, especially in areas of concern, Our God is present 100%. In such occasions, prayer becomes meaningful. The truth that God is present at the place of need guarantees us His intervention and help hence giving us peace and rest on matters that are beyond us.

God is inviting you to lean on Him. Look unto Him and commit any need or worry that you may have. He promises to sustain you.

God’s peace be upon you in Jesus name.
